Testing & Assessment
Mold Inspection & Testing in Allentown, GA
An assessor determines whether mold is present, identifies where it is growing, and measures how far it has spread — before any remediation quote is issued. A mold inspection locates moisture and growth that a room-level look would miss, reading wall cavities, subfloor, and the areas behind finished surfaces. The result is a scope: what is affected, what has to come out, and what is driving the moisture.
Quoted on site by the contractor who visits
Most people reach this page after noticing something rather than after something broke: a smell that returns, a stain that spreads, a room that feels damp. An inspection answers what is actually there and where the moisture comes from, which is the information every later decision depends on. Several states, Texas among them, keep assessment and remediation as separate licensed roles specifically so the party identifying the problem is not the party selling the fix. Nothing here is medical advice — if you have health questions, those are for a clinician.

Frequently asked questions
The ground here is sandy. Why does water sit under the house?
Because the sand is shallow. Rain moves down through it easily until it reaches the clay underneath, and then it stops and spreads out laterally. Under a crawl space that means water arriving from the side at the level of the clay rather than soaking away. The surface looks well drained the whole time, which is why the crawl is usually the last place anyone looks.
Should crawl space vents be open or closed in winter?
It depends on what the air outside is doing, and here the winter is the wet season, which makes the usual advice unreliable. Venting helps when outside air is drier than the crawl. On a mild wet February day it often is not, and open vents bring in damp air that condenses on cool surfaces underneath. Managing the ground moisture first matters more than the vent setting either way.
Does a house this small have different problems than a large one?
The mechanisms are identical, but the margin is smaller. A modest frame house on piers has less floor area to buffer humidity and usually less mechanical ventilation, so a damp crawl shows up in the living space faster. The upside is that the fix is usually smaller too, because there is less perimeter to manage and less ground under the floor.
