Testing & Assessment
Mold Inspection & Testing in Boise City, ID
An assessor determines whether mold is present, identifies where it is growing, and measures how far it has spread — before any remediation quote is issued. A mold inspection locates moisture and growth that a room-level look would miss, reading wall cavities, subfloor, and the areas behind finished surfaces. The result is a scope: what is affected, what has to come out, and what is driving the moisture.
No obligation: the assessment comes before any scope
Most people reach this page after noticing something rather than after something broke: a smell that returns, a stain that spreads, a room that feels damp. An inspection answers what is actually there and where the moisture comes from, which is the information every later decision depends on. Several states, Texas among them, keep assessment and remediation as separate licensed roles specifically so the party identifying the problem is not the party selling the fix. Nothing here is medical advice — if you have health questions, those are for a clinician.

Frequently asked questions
The airport only recorded a trace. Why is the crawl smelling like wet soil?
Because the moisture did not have to fall as rain. Fog off the Front and drip from low cloud wet the ground and the siding without moving the gauge much, and silt over basalt holds what little arrives against the crawl wall. A trace at the airfield is compatible with a wet joist on the foothill side of town. The gauge measures storms. This valley's December is often cloud and melt.
We are on the valley floor, not on the Front. Does foothill weather still reach the house?
The fog does. Cold air slides off the Front and pools on the plain, so a December inversion can sit on the floor of the valley for days while the ridges are in sun. That air is saturated and still, which is a wetting climate for cold siding even when the foothills themselves are not dripping on your lot. The Front sets the inversion; the house does not have to be on the slope.
Eleven inches a year. Is a vapor barrier under the crawl still worth it?
Yes, because the source under the floor is the silt, not the sky. Bare ground in a crawl releases moisture whether the year is dry or not, and lava-rock fill stays cold enough that the air above it is often at saturation. The annual rainfall figure says almost nothing about how much water is entering from below. A cover on that soil is the part that actually changes the joists.
