Testing & Assessment
Mold Inspection & Testing in Paris, ID
An assessor determines whether mold is present, identifies where it is growing, and measures how far it has spread — before any remediation quote is issued. A mold inspection locates moisture and growth that a room-level look would miss, reading wall cavities, subfloor, and the areas behind finished surfaces. The result is a scope: what is affected, what has to come out, and what is driving the moisture.

Most people reach this page after noticing something rather than after something broke: a smell that returns, a stain that spreads, a room that feels damp. An inspection answers what is actually there and where the moisture comes from, which is the information every later decision depends on. Several states, Texas among them, keep assessment and remediation as separate licensed roles specifically so the party identifying the problem is not the party selling the fix. Nothing here is medical advice — if you have health questions, those are for a clinician.

Frequently asked questions
Eighteen inches a year sounds dry. Why is the cellar wet in spring?
Because the gauge measures when precipitation falls, not when it reaches the ground as liquid. A winter's snow sits on the surface contributing nothing, then delivers its whole accumulation over a few weeks of melt. For a foundation that is a single prolonged wetting far larger than any rainfall total suggests, arriving when the soil below is still frozen and cannot take it.
The foundation is old stone. Does that change the approach?
It changes what is realistic. A stone or rubble wall was built to let moisture pass and dry from both faces, without the damp course a later wall would have. Sealing the inside face of one traps water in the wall rather than stopping it. Managing the water before it reaches the wall, and letting the wall breathe, generally works where a coating does not.
Does freezing weather help by locking the water up?
Only while it lasts, and it can make things worse. Ground that freezes while holding melt water expands, and that expansion works against a foundation that has no reinforcement to resist it. At this elevation hard frosts arrive after the ground has taken spring water, so the sequence is wetting followed by freezing rather than the reverse.
