Testing & Assessment

Mold Inspection & Testing in Morgan City, LA

An assessor determines whether mold is present, identifies where it is growing, and measures how far it has spread — before any remediation quote is issued. A mold inspection locates moisture and growth that a room-level look would miss, reading wall cavities, subfloor, and the areas behind finished surfaces. The result is a scope: what is affected, what has to come out, and what is driving the moisture.

No obligation: the assessment comes before any scope

Most people reach this page after noticing something rather than after something broke: a smell that returns, a stain that spreads, a room that feels damp. An inspection answers what is actually there and where the moisture comes from, which is the information every later decision depends on. Several states, Texas among them, keep assessment and remediation as separate licensed roles specifically so the party identifying the problem is not the party selling the fix. Nothing here is medical advice — if you have health questions, those are for a clinician.

Frequently asked questions

The city has pumps and a floodwall. Why does water still stand in the yard?

The wall keeps the river out and the pumps move the rain out, but neither happens instantly. An August storm dropping two inches in an hour fills the streets and yards faster than the pumps can lift it over the wall, and the ground is at sea level with nowhere else for it to go. Until the pumps catch up, every low spot on the lot holds water, and a slab edge or pier base sits in it that long.

The floor of our 1960s house slopes toward one side. Is that connected to the damp there?

Almost always. Delta clay under this city compresses and subsides, and it does so unevenly, so a slab that was level when it was poured now leans toward whichever side has sunk the most. That side becomes the low point for water on the pad, and the wall above it stays damp while the high side is fine. The slope and the moisture are the same problem seen from two directions.

Our house is raised on piers. Are we clear of the ground water?

Clear of the flooding, but not of the moisture. The ground under a raised house stays wet for most of the summer here, and the space beneath the floor holds that humidity with very little air moving through it. The underside of the floor and the bottoms of the walls take it up. A raised house needs the ground beneath it to drain and the space under it to breathe, or it ends up damp from below without ever flooding.
