Testing & Assessment

Mold Inspection & Testing in Chillum, MD

An assessor determines whether mold is present, identifies where it is growing, and measures how far it has spread — before any remediation quote is issued. A mold inspection locates moisture and growth that a room-level look would miss, reading wall cavities, subfloor, and the areas behind finished surfaces. The result is a scope: what is affected, what has to come out, and what is driving the moisture.

The pro who inspects is the pro who quotes

Most people reach this page after noticing something rather than after something broke: a smell that returns, a stain that spreads, a room that feels damp. An inspection answers what is actually there and where the moisture comes from, which is the information every later decision depends on. Several states, Texas among them, keep assessment and remediation as separate licensed roles specifically so the party identifying the problem is not the party selling the fix. Nothing here is medical advice — if you have health questions, those are for a clinician.

Frequently asked questions

The brick looks solid. Why does June wet the inside of a short basement?

Brick above grade and brick below grade are different jobs. These 1961 ramblers used the same wythe into the soil, and June rain soaks that buried face and wicks inside. The street elevation can look perfect. The first three feet underground are the ones that take the month. A coat of paint on the inside is not a drain.

We are not on the creek. Do the pipes still back up in June?

Yes. The storm grid on these tight lots is small, and a 5.22-inch June month fills it from the block at once. Window wells then take water from the pipe, not from the Northwest Branch. Creek houses have a second, table-driven job. Everyone else still has the pipes.

The window well is original. Can it be made to work?

If it has a path out. Many of these wells were dropped in with the 1961 foundation and never had a working drain to daylight, so June just fills a brick box. A cover without a drain hides the bucket. A drain to a place that is actually lower, and a well that cannot backflow from the sewer, is the repair.
