Testing & Assessment

Mold Inspection & Testing in Sharon, MS

An assessor determines whether mold is present, identifies where it is growing, and measures how far it has spread — before any remediation quote is issued. A mold inspection locates moisture and growth that a room-level look would miss, reading wall cavities, subfloor, and the areas behind finished surfaces. The result is a scope: what is affected, what has to come out, and what is driving the moisture.

No obligation: the assessment comes before any scope

Most people reach this page after noticing something rather than after something broke: a smell that returns, a stain that spreads, a room that feels damp. An inspection answers what is actually there and where the moisture comes from, which is the information every later decision depends on. Several states, Texas among them, keep assessment and remediation as separate licensed roles specifically so the party identifying the problem is not the party selling the fix. Nothing here is medical advice — if you have health questions, those are for a clinician.

Frequently asked questions

Summer is the humid season on the Gulf. Why call out a January slab stain?

January is the wettest month, and it is cold. Clay takes 6.07 inches slowly when evaporation is near zero, and Tallahala Creek keeps the outfalls from dropping. A summer burst can still leave in a day of heat. A winter burst stays at the pad. The calendar is the local fact. Humidity slogans do not explain a stain that starts in January and is still there in March.

The house is from the 1990s. Should a slab this new wick January rain?

New is not a stem. Many 1992 pads here were poured at grade on clay with no real step, so splash and perched water wet the bottom plate directly. Thirty years is long enough for that detail to show. Adding a grade that falls away, and gutters that discharge past the pad, does more than pointing at the build year. The year explains when it was poured. It does not put a capillary break under it.

Tight skirting on a manufactured home through a Jones County winter. Seal it more, or less?

Less. Winter clay under the home is wet from January through March; tight skirting holds that humidity against the floor. Vent the skirting, put a ground cover down, and keep the pad falling away from the home. Sealing it tighter is how a 6.07 inch month spends the rest of winter under the joists.
