Mold Removal & Remediation in Five Points, NC

Containment, HEPA filtration, and antimicrobial treatment eliminate mold colonies at the source and prevent cross-contamination throughout the property. Mold remediation removes affected porous materials and corrects the moisture source that allowed growth. The work is done under containment with HEPA filtration so spores are not carried into unaffected rooms, and the area is cleared only once the underlying moisture problem has been resolved.

Quoted on site by the contractor who visits

Remediation is the step after the assessment, not before it. A local pro establishes how far the growth extends and what is feeding it, because removing what is visible while the moisture source is still running puts the same colony back in the same wall. Texas and several other states also set a square-footage point above which the work has to be done by a licensed remediator — the service note below covers where that line falls in this city.

Frequently asked questions

The sand drinks a storm in minutes. Why is the slab still damp two days after a remnant?

The sand is a skin. Under it is clay that a September soak cannot cross quickly, so the water that vanished at the surface is still there, perched, under the pad. Fast drinking is not deep drainage. If the slab is damp after the yard looks dry, you are seeing the clay contact, not a roof leak. A remnant is the rain that fills that contact; a burst would have run off the sand before it got there.

A 2005 house on sand. Did anyone plan for a perched layer?

Often no. Sandhill lots were sold as well-drained, and pads went down without a break at the clay. A 5.27 inch remnant then sits under the house. The build year is recent; the geology is not. Grade that still falls away, and keeping the septic field from saturating back toward the pad, are the practical moves. The sand will not become a drain just because the house is new.

The drainfield is in the same sand. Can a wet September push toward the slab?

If the field sits on that clay contact, yes. A remnant saturates the perched layer, the field cannot drain, and effluent works back toward the house on a lot with little fall. That path has a different smell from roof water. If the wet corner is on the field side after September, treat the field as full, not the gutter as clogged.
