Testing & Assessment

Mold Inspection & Testing in Burlington, NJ

An assessor determines whether mold is present, identifies where it is growing, and measures how far it has spread — before any remediation quote is issued. A mold inspection locates moisture and growth that a room-level look would miss, reading wall cavities, subfloor, and the areas behind finished surfaces. The result is a scope: what is affected, what has to come out, and what is driving the moisture.

Local contractors · findings documented for your claim

Most people reach this page after noticing something rather than after something broke: a smell that returns, a stain that spreads, a room that feels damp. An inspection answers what is actually there and where the moisture comes from, which is the information every later decision depends on. Several states, Texas among them, keep assessment and remediation as separate licensed roles specifically so the party identifying the problem is not the party selling the fix. Nothing here is medical advice — if you have health questions, those are for a clinician.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the cellar seem worse at some times of day?

Because the river here is tidal, and it sets the level everything drains toward. On a high tide the ground water under the waterfront has a higher outlet to reach, so it drains more slowly and stands higher. That cycle runs twice a day regardless of the weather, which is why a cellar can look different morning and evening with no rain in between.

The house shares walls with its neighbors. Does that change anything?

It does, because a rowhouse cellar is not an independent structure. The party walls sit on a continuous footing and the ground beneath runs unbroken under the whole terrace, so water arriving under one house is arriving under several. Work that only addresses one cellar often moves the water rather than removing it, which is why these are usually best considered as a row.

Should an eighteenth-century stone cellar be sealed?

Generally not from the inside. A wall of that age was built to pass moisture and dry from both faces, with no damp course to stop water rising through it. Sealing the interior traps that water in the masonry, which pushes the damage into the mortar and the stone itself. Reducing what reaches the wall, and leaving the wall able to breathe, is the approach that lasts.
