Through the limestone. Onondaga joints carry it well away from the bank, so a cellar with no channel in sight still receives it. Distance from the creek is not distance from its water.
The towpath is a recreationway now. Why would the pool still wet a limestone cellar?
The canal is still a pool. June rain on that pool has no drop through the terrace, so the extra goes into limestone joints and fill. A 1944 cellar on the towpath side is in the canal whether a boat is.
The creek is a block away. Can limestone still bring it into the cellar?
It can. Onondaga limestone does not respect property lines. A cell that dumps on the flats can reappear as seepage under a downtown floor hours later. The diagnosis has to follow the rock, not the weather map for that block.
