The soil is shallow. Does that help or hurt?
It hurts, because shallow soil has little storage. Once the few feet above bedrock are saturated, there is nowhere further down for water to go and it moves sideways along the rock surface instead. That flow arrives at foundations that happen to sit in its path.
The house is nowhere near a ravine. Does the ravine matter?
