Chartiers Creek looks small. Why would June load a cellar on Lincoln Hill?
The creek is the low outlet, not the only path. On the bituminous benches a June cell finds the coal measures and moves through them. A house cut into Lincoln Hill is sitting in that path. The stain is underground flow, not a roof leak, and chasing the downspout will not find it.
This is bituminous country, not anthracite. Does a mine void still matter?
Sometimes, but the common wetting here is a seep along the coal, not a subsided street. Anthracite towns pond in troughs the ridge dropped. Here the wall stays wet because the bed is still in place and still conducting. Treating every damp cellar as a void will miss the cut that is actually doing the work.
Gabby Heights is uphill of the mill blocks. Is that a different June job?
Yes. The heights fail from the coal-face cut and from roofs that terminate at the lot line. The mill blocks fail from Chartiers holding the table up. One June cell, two elevations. Scoping them as one hillside will waste the visit on the wrong bench.
