Testing & Assessment
Mold Inspection & Testing in Bluefield, WV
An assessor determines whether mold is present, identifies where it is growing, and measures how far it has spread — before any remediation quote is issued. A mold inspection locates moisture and growth that a room-level look would miss, reading wall cavities, subfloor, and the areas behind finished surfaces. The result is a scope: what is affected, what has to come out, and what is driving the moisture.
The pro who inspects is the pro who quotes
Most people reach this page after noticing something rather than after something broke: a smell that returns, a stain that spreads, a room that feels damp. An inspection answers what is actually there and where the moisture comes from, which is the information every later decision depends on. Several states, Texas among them, keep assessment and remediation as separate licensed roles specifically so the party identifying the problem is not the party selling the fix. Nothing here is medical advice — if you have health questions, those are for a clinician.

Frequently asked questions
This is high Appalachian coal country. Why does May rain pond instead of running off?
The gap is a bowl with mountains on two sides, and mine workings have lowered pieces of the floor. Water that would sheet off a natural grade sits instead, because the gap and the subsidence agree on where the low point is. Elevation is not drainage here.
A pond forms in the yard and there is no creek anywhere near it. Where is it from?
A subsidence trough. Old workings under this saddle let the surface settle into a shallow basin, so a May cell collects in a low that has no channel to leave by. The pond reports what is under the yard, not what fell on it.
The mine is sealed. Does the bench still seep?
Sealed is not dry. Water that entered the measures still finds the outcrop, and a 1953 cellar on that bench is the first opening. A wet uphill wall that tracks May, with no plumbing failure, is often the seam. The company left. The hydrology did not.
