Mold Removal & Remediation in Charleston, WV
Containment, HEPA filtration, and antimicrobial treatment remove mold colonies at the source and stop cross-contamination through the rest of the home. Mold remediation removes affected porous materials and corrects the moisture source that allowed growth. The work is done under containment with HEPA filtration so spores are not carried into unaffected rooms, and the area is cleared only once the underlying moisture problem has been resolved.
Remediation is the step after the assessment, not before it. A local pro establishes how far the growth extends and what is feeding it, because removing what is visible while the moisture source is still running puts the same colony back in the same wall. Texas and several other states also set a square-footage point above which the work has to be done by a licensed remediator — the service note below covers where that line falls in this city.
Every pro in our network is licensed and insured in West Virginia.
Frequently asked questions
The uphill wall is the wet one. Is that expected?
On a hillside cut, yes. That wall is retaining saturated ground rather than simply enclosing a basement, and after prolonged rain it carries real hydrostatic pressure. Water appearing on the uphill side and nowhere else is a strong indication that the problem is the slope rather than the building.
Why does a narrow valley make rainfall worse?
Because it concentrates it. Water shedding off steep ground on both sides arrives at a limited floor area quickly and with little opportunity to infiltrate on the way. The same rainfall spread over open terrain would disperse; here it converges on the small part of the landscape that is built on.
Should slope movement be a concern after a wet spell?
It is worth watching on cut-and-fill lots. Saturated fill loses strength, and movement often announces itself in small ways first: doors binding, new cracks at a corner, a retaining wall leaning slightly. Those signs after a long wet period are worth taking seriously rather than waiting.
