Finding out who operates it and when it runs answers both questions cheaply.
We water the lawn near the house. Is that a problem?
On this soil, yes, and it is one of the most common causes of foundation trouble along the Front Range. Claystone swells when wetted, and foundations here assume the backfill stays relatively dry. Irrigation against the wall keeps that soil wet continuously rather than occasionally. Moving heads and drip lines back several feet, and extending downspouts well clear, does more for the structure than anything done to the structure itself.
