Our building is old brick. Does that change the drying?

Historic materials also tolerate aggressive drying poorly, and lime mortar and original plaster can be damaged by it. A contractor experienced with historic fabric will work more slowly and know what can be saved.
How does newer construction here compare?
It handles ordinary weather far better and it is not exempt from the big event. Modern subdivisions have engineered grading, footing drains, and sumps, which deal with the routine case competently.
