The slab is probably fine; the soil is the variable. Engineered foundations here are designed for clay movement, but they do not stop it, and the yard around them still cracks open every dry summer. The most common problem in newer subdivisions is not the slab at all but drainage that was correct at handover and has since been changed by fences, flower beds, and patios. Walking the original grading plan against what is there now is usually the cheapest diagnostic available.

It can, and on flat ground it often does. Water that stands against a slab edge for that long saturates the soil under the perimeter and can push in at the joint between slab and wall. Check the interior perimeter with a meter rather than assuming a dry-looking baseboard means nothing happened. If the readings are clean, the lesson is a drainage one; if they are not, the wall base needs opening before finishes trap the moisture.
